Seasoning These meditations or "seasonings" to your relationship with God will follow the seasons. Four times a year you will find a new seasoning here. May the messages aid your search for the extraordinary God in the ordinary. By the way, finding God in the ordinary is just one of many facets of the spirituality of St. Vincent Pallotti. If you wish to learn more we are offering a spirituality course called Rekindling Love. Just email us at info@windridgesolitude.org with the phrase "spirituality course" in the subject line and someone will respond to you. This also offers you the option of Windridge Solitude Cenacle. To learn more, click on the following link Companions in the Infinite Love and click on the "Spirituality" tab. But before you do that, don't forget to read this quarter's "Seasoning".
Nowhere I made my retreat down in Visitation Cottage one winter. On an especially cold day, I found myself drawn to the large window near the couch. I looked out at a hill, sloping down toward the cottage. I could not see to the other side of the hill. As if in a movie, I imagined a band of cavalry or (nearing Christmas) a host of angels rising into view, cresting the hill. Then I stood on the front porch and noticed the twenty-two stone squares that step their way up the incline, ending near the top. I smiled and thought that these steps suddenly break off, leading somewhere and nowhere. Both these images remained with me and I realized they had something to say to me. At the window, I realized I cannot see the future. It remains unknown. Although I admit to imagining it in different scenarios. And as I look at the steps, I realize that life leads us somewhere into the nowhere. Our lives are incomplete of themselves, but are part of an overall pattern, lived out from generations past to generations to come. ~CSC |
